Sunday, March 30, 2014: The Walking Dead
Posted by Aly Semigran | March 30, 2014 6:00 am
Season 4 has been the strongest season of The Walking Dead so far, particularly when it came to character development. (Who knew Carol had it in her?) But all good things must come to an end... even when those good things are a hopeless post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland.

While we all impatiently wait to discover who the next pair of true detectives will be on Season 2 of True Detective, we can get a fix with true-life detectives Kelley Siegler (a former prosecutor) and Yolanda McClary (a former crime scene investigator) as they re-open unsolved small-town murder cases.

Noah: After the Flood
Posted by Ethan Alter | March 27, 2014 1:20 pm
Like the unseen, but omnipresent Creator referenced throughout Noah, Darren Aronofsky works in mysterious ways. Far from the $100 million art film many assumed the director of such cult fare as The Fountain and Pi might have made, this re-telling of the Great Flood myth instead turns out to be...

Most people know Christopher Meloni from more seriously grim fare like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but don't let his intimidating demeanor fool you: the guy is a comedic force to be reckoned with. Case in point: his willingness to go the extra mile for some seriously demented laughs in movies like...

Indie Snapshot: The Raid 2
Posted by Ethan Alter | March 26, 2014 3:13 pm
It brings me no great pleasure to report that the The Raid 2 is to The Raid as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was to the first Transformers: it's longer, flashier and bloated well past the point of tedium.

That was pretty sneaky, New Girl writers. You started off last night's episode "Mars Landing" with another rousing round of True Americans on purpose, didn't you? You taught us new rules to the game (if you invented the cotton gin, you have gin poured in your mouth) and gave us hilarious new shots...

Tuesday, March 25, 2014: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Posted by Aly Semigran | March 25, 2014 5:55 am
It's pretty safe to say that Brooklyn Nine-Nine had a rather stellar first season. Not only was it the funniest new show on prime time thanks to its rapid-fire jokes and firing-on-all-cylinders cast (Andre Braugher was the MVP if the bunch), but it was the winner of Best Television Series -- Musical or Comedy...
