Parenthood: The Best and Worst Braverman Pairings of “Jump Ball”

Finally, what Parenthood fans have been waiting all season for: an almost entirely Hank-themed episode. What. Wait. No, that's not right. In fact, there's been an overabundance of Hank all season when there are main characters being all but neglected. (Seriously, Hank has had far more screen time and storylines than Crosby, Jasmine, Jabbar, and practically nonexistent baby Aida combined.) What was especially frustrating about "Jump Ball" was that the two most compelling storylines (Amber confronting her father Seth and Joel telling Julia he's going to move out) were pushed towards the end of the episode. Why all the stalling lately? While "Jump Ball" had its moments (Parenthood always does, after all), it felt like yet another set-up episode. So, until we find out the big stuff, here's the best and worst Braverman pairings of "Jump Ball":

Showtime [Hearts] Diablo Cody

Over the course of the last few years, Showtime has been working hard to shed its image as HBO's nerdy younger sibling. Like a pubescent high school girl who's evolved from tentative nerd (Angela Chase) to popular ho (Kelly Taylor) to reckless bad-ass who just don't give a fuck (Marissa Cooper), we've seen the channel blossom before our very eyes. They brought us The L Word and Queer As Folk -- because it's natural to experiment. Then came Weeds --- because everyone knows that drugs make you cooler. Then came the much-anticipated Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Because everyone loves a slut. And just yesterday it was announced that the premium channel has picked up United States of Tara, a new comedy series penned by tattooed It-screenwriter Diablo Cody about a woman with dissociative identity disorder. Because if we learned anything from Britney, it's that mental disorder is the new black.

Nothing Says Olive Garden Like A Pair of Fake Boobs! Is Kendra from The Girls Next Door the new face of The Olive Garden? Not if the OG brass has anything to say about it. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal [via Videogum], Ms. Wilkinson is a devoted and vocal fan of the free bread sticks haven and doesn't miss a chance to talk it up, enumerating the virtues of her most favorite menu items (artichoke dip, salad and chicken parmigiana) to anyone who will listen. You'd think the chain would be thrilled at the free publicity, but apparently being that they're a 'family company' or some dumb crap, they're not so stoked on being endorsed by a woman who gets nekkid for a living.
