Rashida Jones Officially Joins the Infamous Not-Spinoff

Rashida Jones Officially Joins the Infamous Not-Spinoff And hopefully her character won't get treated like crap this time! Word comes from Variety that Jones will be playing a nurse whose boyfriend has "a strange injury" on the new Greg Daniels/Mike Schur series starring Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari, due out on NBC next year. We know now that the show is not, as previously reported, an Office spinoff (oh, how no one will let anyone forget it!), but since they haven't given the damn thing a name yet, I'm just calling it The Amy Poehler Show from now on because there's only so much I can take, people.

Parks and Recreation: Where to Watch the Cast During the Show’s Hiatus

Dammit, Jerry/Gerry/Garry/Larry! Don't ask us how it's his fault that NBC is putting Parks and Recreation more or less on hiatus until January 2014, but he is, we just know it. Sadly, that news is true: due to some infuriating schedule switcheroos, we won't get the new Halloween episode of Parks and Rec until November 14 so it can be preempted for episodes of The Voice and an SNL special. After back-to-back episodes on November 14 and 21, there will be a break and we won't see Leslie Knope and Co. again until January 9, 2014. While Adam Scott assured fans nothing fishy is going on, it was heartbreaking enough when we had to deal with the uncertain future of Parks and Rec, but now that we have it back, we can't actually have it? And, nice try, but none of this will get any of us to watch Sean Saves the World because, you know, we have eyes.

Neil Patrick Harris Singing About Prop 8 = Awesome

Neil Patrick Harris Singing About Prop 8 = Awesome

Neil Patrick Harris singing about anything is pretty much all it takes to make me happy (see my summer ramblings about Dr. Horrible). We don't lovingly refer to NPH as our patron saint around the office for nothing. He does magic, he can sing, he's Barney, he used to play a doctor on TV. Just all around awesome. So of course I was going to love the latest offering from Funny or Die. They had the amazing Marc Shaiman (he wrote all of those infectiously addictive songs for Hairspray) cook up a special musical number about the Prop 8 controversy. It's a joyful and silly star-studded affair and has succeeded in finally getting me out of my funk.
