TWoP 10: Off-the-Beaten-Path Reality Shows Worth Watching

We had thought that we were going to spend our summer delighting in seeing Cat Deeley on a fresh program and watching Kelly Clarkson be her adorable self, but their respective new reality shows turned out to be duds. So instead we've turned our attention to some other series that may not generate quite as much buzz, but still fill our mindless summer reality needs (kinda like these shows from the dog days of winter). They all have a charm that Snooki and JWOWW's stale act severely lacks, and are a nice companion to keep us and our DVRs busy now that So You Think You Can Dance is only on one night a week.

First off, either my tolerance has improved in the past week, or the ladies were slightly less deafening last night. Only marginally, but it still seemed like they had maybe lost some steam. There weren't even really any good zingers, just a rehashing of the Herman Munster shoes and whatnot. Still, there were a few entertaining moments amidst the nitpicky fights. This show tried to make me believe that it was the most dangerous competition on TV, but c'mon. I watch The Challenge on a regular basis and those people are 50 feet up in the air dangling on a string or something between buildings. Jonny Moseley used to host that program (back when it still had the Real World/Road Rules moniker), so I'm surprised he didn't call the Skating With the Stars producers out on that. Frankly, I think even Wipeout is more dangerous.

TWoP 10: Guiltiest Summer TV Pleasures of 2010

It's summertime, so we've happily lowered our standards in regard to what we'll watch on television. But there is low and then there are shows that we're more than a little bit ashamed to admit that we not only watch... but actually enjoy. On occasion we discover shows like Pretty Little Liars, which we think we're going to have to DVR in secret but that then turn out to be genuinely well done. Or shows like True Blood, which is basically sexy vampire porn, but are OK because all our friends watch, too. But the rest of them... well, they wind up on our don't ask, don't tell list. But if you watched them as well, we'd feel a whole lot better about it. Here's our top (or bottom) ten:
