Are Dawson’s Creek and Vampire Diaries Really The Same Show?

Are Dawson’s Creek and Vampire Diaries Really The Same Show?

On the surface, these two teen dramas created/produced by Kevin Williamson seem to have little in common. One is about a wholesome group of kids growing up in a harbor community in the Northeast and dealing with their normal, non-supernatural, everyday issues. The other is about a few blood-sucking vampires who have tormented a small Virginia town for centuries. However, when we put the two shows side by side, we quickly realized that they have a lot more in common than one might initially think.

The contestants have finally been announced for RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race, and there's about a billion reasons why this competition excites us way more than any of those Idol-lookalikes. Most of those reasons have to do with the excess of glitter.

SNL is officially down one player.

Gemini Division, Or How Does a Pacemaker Control One’s Mind, Exactly? Listen, webisodes are something that's been happening a lot lately, and I think we should all just get used to them. They're not going away any time soon, and while some of them may be terrible (The Heroes ones), others are actually pretty good (The Office ones). One web-only/minisode-only series I've come across that doesn't suck too bad is Gemini Division, which stars Rosario Dawson as a cop whose gay boyfriend's pacemaker programs him to kill. At least that's what I gathered from the first installment, which was released today. I could be proven wrong in subsequent episodes. It also may or may not be set in the future -- everyone in it wears current clothing (translation: no pointy shoulders or floor length robes, which defies Hollywood's strict vision of future fashion), but Dawson's character uses this webcam technology with all kinds of coding and activity on the sides like in The Matrix, so yeah, most likely the future. And to my knowledge, pacemakers do not currently program people to kill... yet, so there's another argument for the future setting.

Joey Potter's Back on the Small Screen!

Joey Potter's Back on the Small Screen!

I've got to thank my dear pal Michael Ausiello over at EW for this one -- he's discovered that one Miss Joey Potter will be resurfacing on the small screen in an episode of Eli Stone. Damn. I guess this means I've got to start watching this show. I tried, because of the Jack Bristow factor, but got bored after one episode. Normally I object to this kind of stuntcasting, but I'm totally selfish and that only goes for shows that I actually watch/am obsessed with. This one I don't care about, and I love me some Katie Holmes, before and after the craziness that surrounds her, Tom and Suri. She'll always be my little sweet Joey Potter. Nothing, not even Scientology, can take that away from her.

Middleman: Better Than Middling

Middleman: Better Than Middling

I am highly skeptical of anything on ABC Family. While I have never actually watched an episode of Wildfire, something tells me I would not like it, because I am not a 13-year-old girl. Granted, there are a few syndicated shows there that I will admit to having watched in the past, but my point is that ABC Family shows are cute and family-friendly and more or less harmless. (Although as a parent I would look askance at certain episodes of Smallville.) So why the hell do I like The Middleman so much?
