Nip/Tuck: An Appalling End to an Appalling Season

Nip/Tuck: An Appalling End to an Appalling Season

So, Nip/Tuck has kind of a terrible reputation in the land of television -- remember all that stuff we said two months ago about this show? Yeah, we were right. And now that the second half of Season 5 is all wrapped up, I think it's safe to say that at this point the producers of the show are literally trying to shame the last remaining diehard fans into letting go. I mean really, did anyone watch the season finale last night besides me? Dear God! But hey, Nip/Tuck's final season is airing some time in 2010 -- maybe they're pulling that old trick of making us hate them so the goodbye will be easier. Guess what, show? It's working! For those of you who bailed on this formerly... let's go with "watchable" show when The Carver showed up back in 2004, here's why you missed the most maddeningly absurd season ever (and trust me, that's saying something!).

Happy Nip/Tuck (Quasi) Premiere Day!

Happy Nip/Tuck (Quasi) Premiere Day!

Nip/Tuck is one of TV's greatest and simplest pleasures. It's filthy, gory, melodramatic, often funny, and you always know what you can expect from it. It's like a rock to lean on amidst the tension-induced hair-pulling that shows like Lost and Dexter make me do. A crazy rock that is on some of the bad stuff, but a rock nonetheless. After an episode of Nip/Tuck, I don't sit around for the rest of the week wondering what will happen next, what every single minute detail of every episode means for the rest of the series, what it represents metaphorically or if the characters are being sufficiently and appropriately matured and developed, because I know that these slutty people are crazy, and whatever attempts they endeavor to pull their lives out of the persistent, unfathomable shambles they're in will always be thwarted and they'll always be back to rock bottom, where they really love being anyway. And I like that. Nip/Tuck knows what it is, and it embraces it more confidently than any other series on television. Also? Sweeeet soundtrack, dudes.

Why, Katee Sackhoff? Why?

Why, Katee Sackhoff? Why? When news broke in May that Katee Sackhoff would be following BSG with a fun (and knowing that show, downright filthy!) guest stint on Nip/Tuck, I could hardly contain my excitement. Since then, thoughts like, "Starbuck as a love interest for Sean? Yes!" "Ooh, I bet Christian'll try to steal her!" "Julia's going to be so jealous! I don't even care that she's a lesbian now!" and so on and so forth have been whirring around in my head almost non-stop. Sadly, that all came to an end today when my Starbuck-guesting-on-Nip/Tuck dreams were dashed against the rocks, and everything about it got really annoying.

CSI: Things Kurt Russell Could Do Instead

CSI: Things Kurt Russell Could Do Instead Upon hearing the news that Kurt Russell, my favorite movie star in the whole damn universe, is a leading contender to take over William Peterson's role on CSI, I had mixed emotions. First I was like, "The Kurt! On the TV! Yes!" But then I remembered that I don't watch CSI, I've never even seen CSI, and the only things I know about CSI are that they talk about pubic hair on it a lot (Reno 911 told me!) and that it's my 90-year-old grandmother's favorite show. We don't watch the same shows because she's 66 years older than I am, so naturally we have different tastes in what she likes to call "progr'ms."

Just When I Thought I Was Out… They Pull Me Back In

Just When I Thought I Was Out… They Pull Me Back In Gods Frakkin' Dammit. Those were the words that literally came out of my mouth when I read the news this morning that Katee Sackhoff was going to be doing four episodes of Nip/Tuck next season. I'm thrilled that Starbuck has another big gig since BSG's coming to an end (though I can't really talk about that... still in denial). However, this news is good for her, but bad for me because now I've got to start watching Nip/Tuck again.
