Party Down: Catering To Our Comedy Needs?

Starz debuted their new comedy series Party Down tonight. It's got an incredible pedigree. It's from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, Mars writers John Enbom and Dan Etheridge and genuinely all-around funny guy Paul Rudd. Not too shabby. And the cast is chockablock full of former Mars stars. It's a veritable reunion of sorts. And it is a show about cater-waiters living in LA, biding their time until they get their big breaks. Which means that every week we get a different party with more wacky guests. Seems like the makings of a laugh riot, right?

We won't know who will be in the White House come 2013, but we do know who will play the President for the next few months.

Talking Friends (And Kids) With Adam Scott

Talking Friends (And Kids) With Adam Scott

Although all of the ads for the new romantic comedy Friends with Kids play up the movie's impressive ensemble -- Jon Hamm! Kristen Wiig! Maya Rudolph! Megan Fox! -- they don't indicate that Adam Scott is actually the movie's leading man. The Parks and Recreation star plays Jason Fryman, a single-and-loving-it New Yorker who decides to enter into an unusual arrangement with his best friend, Julie (Jennifer Westfeldt, who also wrote and directed the movie): they'll have a kid together and share joint custody, but since they're not actually attracted to each other, they won't bother with marriage. At first, this arrangement gives Jason the best of both worlds as he's able to experience the fun of fatherhood while also being able to indulge his single guy hormones by dating a smoking hot Broadway dancer (Megan Fox). But then... well, you'll just have to see the movie for yourself. In town for the movie's premiere, Scott spoke with us about how he scored the gig and what costume he wore for Halloween last year. (Hint: He previously donned it for a very popular episode of Parks and Rec.)

Parks and Recreation: Who Made the Comedy Grade Last Night?

Parks and Recreation: Who Made the Comedy Grade Last Night?

If I ever get into the acting biz, Parks and Recreation is the first show I'm auditioning for (is this even how people get acting gigs?) because once you're in the Pawnee universe, you're there forever. That crazy DJ that Tom hired to announce his entrances into new places? In "Operation Ann," he's being considered in the search for the person responsible for getting the Valentine's Day dance attendees "wet with sound." That weird friend of April's who always freaks Ben out? He just may be an eligible suitor for Ann! It doesn't hurt that my memory for extremely minor characters is freakishly good, but I love every appearance we've ever gotten of both DJ Bluntz and Oren... but even then, as soon as you hear their name and see their mannerisms, they are instantly recognizable as the hilarious archetypes they're meant to be. Same goes with all of Pawnee's fine business establishments.
