TWoP 10: Shows Sarah Palin Should Appear On

TWoP 10: Shows Sarah Palin Should Appear On Rumors are rampant that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry wants Sarah Palin to be on the season finale of his show playing a version of herself. While this may or may not be true... given the source, we got to thinking about some other shows that Mrs. Palin should appear on (when she's not doing her gubernatorial duties). We know she was pretty terrible on SNL, so we've found roles that won't require her to stretch too much.

Sarah Palin, This is an AB Conversation

Sarah Palin, This is an AB Conversation So C your way out! Seriously, I have a problem with this: It seems Sarah Palin is a big fan of Tina Fey's effing hysterical impression of her. So much so that she's angling to appear on an upcoming episode of SNL as Tina Fey. First of all, Palsies, isn't that just a leeeeeetle too meta for a hockey mom bumpkin like you, wouldn'tcha say? I mean, aren't you worried that when you start with that high concept beeswax, you're gonna alienate the Joe Six-packs who like you because you're not smarter than they are? See here's the thing: we're laughing at you, not with you. I understand it's a difficult distinction. I know subtlety isn't your forte. That type of thing is pretentious and unpatriotic, by golly!

And to be honest, I didn't really get what all the fuss was about. Sure Heilemann and Halperin provided some juicy nuggets about what was going on behind-the-scenes on both the Democratic and Republican sides, but as a work of non-fiction, it was awkwardly structured, poorly sourced (the authors famously relied extensively on anonymous and off-the-record contributors) and didn't offer any profound insights into the contentious, turbulent year that the country had just lived through. At its worst, Game Change resembled an US Weekly version of a political book -- lots of gossip, not much substance.
