Three Rivers: Yet Another Mediocre Medical Drama

CBS' spin attempt to make a House-like series debuted last night, but while there were patients of the week introduced via bizarre scenarios, the doctor in charge isn't nearly as cranky or believable. Really, am I supposed to believe that there is a cardio transplant specialist who is going to sit and hold his patient's hand and wants everyone to call him Andy? In my experience surgeons are far too busy and self-important to allow for either of those scenarios. This isn't Everwood. This is a seemingly large hospital, given that they have an entire transplant team and a jet at the ready.

Exciting Lost Casting, Particularly for Those of You Who Agree With Me That Three Kings Is The Greatest Movie of All Time Two of Lost Season 5's four new bad asses have been cast, and while I don't know anything about one of them, the other made movie magic in one of the greatest comedic torture scenes in cinematic history, so I'm pretty thrilled. The actor I know nothing about, Zuleikha Robinson, will play Llana, the dangerous European woman of mystery we heard about in August. Although Robinson seems to be one helluva showkiller, with a resumé that includes New Amsterdam, Rome and The Lone Gunmen, I'm pretty sure Lost will be safe from her showkilling ways.

2 Broke Girls: The Groans of the Week

I just want to point out "And the Three Boys With Wood" started out with Max tending to a horse, and ended with Caroline grinding with an Amish boy -- causing him to instantaneously orgasm and have a panic attack and then get taken away in an ambulance -- and shortly thereafter, she got an odd text message from Andy who immediately came outside and started making out with her. Oh, and then a stray cat with really fake sound effects growled at Max. This is real show on network television.

Jeez, The X Factor did some serious damage.

Famous Food: TV’s Biggest Trainwrecks in One Convenient Place

I'm going to be honest here: I spent most of the first episode of this show transfixed by Heidi Montag's boobs in her pink shirt. Not in a pervy way, but because I was trying to figure out if she was wearing a strangely textured bra, was sitting at an odd angle or if her nipples actually point in two separate directions. When that is the most fascinating part of a series that has some of reality's most biggest nightmares, it's probably a bad omen.

CBS: More TV That No One Will Watch Except Millions of People

The third day of upfronts brought us the endurance test that is the CBS presentation, held for the umpteenth year in freezing-cold Carnegie Hall. And once again, I was bemused by how defensive the executives sounded while touting the most successful network on television. CBS has the most popular drama (CSI), the most popular comedy (Two and a Half Men) and the most popular new show of the 2008-09 season (The Mentalist). And yet there's this undercurrent of resentment towards their lower-rated, but far "cooler," competitors that's actually fascinating from an armchair psychologist's perspective.
