First Jean Claude Van Damme came back on the scene and lassoed major indie cred playing a version of himself in the cult hit
JCVD. And now his arch nemesis Steven Seagal (that's right, Mister My Little Ponytail himself!)
will star in an A&E reality show called Steven Seagal: Lawman that chronicles his life as a deputy sheriff of
Nottingham Jefferson County Parish in New Orleans. Unbeknownst to me (and, I'm guessing, you, unless you happen to be a crazy Seagal fanatic), SS has worked in the sheriff's office for nearly twenty years. What's with people appointing random fictional tough guys (Jesse Ventura, Ahnold) to real positions? Honest to gosh, some folks just take that whole suspension of disbelief thing a little too far.
But I digress. I'll admit I've never sat through a Seagal film, but based on
Zach's incredibly awkward interview with the action hero, he seems like kind of a douche. Will this reality show seek to make dude more human, relatable, likable? Is he having a moment? And what in the name of all that's holy will this show look like anyway? I'm imagining some weird hybrid of
Cops, Dog the Bounty Hunter and
Under Siege. In other words, totally sweet!
What are your thoughts on Seagal's latest bid to become a reality star? Will you watch it?
