Modern Family: Please, No Photos

Modern Family: Please, No Photos

This wasn't the worst episode of this show -- we've seen how truly awful it can get -- but the utter pointlessness of this outing was hard to top. Also, it was so forgettable that I watched "iSpy" last night, and this morning when I woke up, I could hardly remember any of the details so I had to watch it again. It didn't improve on repeat viewing. At all.

While normally there is a defined A plot and smaller, supporting B plots, here the episode was just floundering. The nonsense between Gloria and Jay was trivial at best. He had a dream, called someone baby and it turned out it was his dog. Don't blame him. That's a damn cute dog. Anyway, it didn't even amount to much of a discussion. Luke and Manny made a zombie movie and Claire and Phil went to spy on them with a hover cam to make sure they weren't doing drugs. This was also a quickly resolved plot that barely touched on invasion of privacy or the fact that the kids were getting older. And then Cam and Mitch... did the writers not have something better for either of them to do then go back to the "Cam's Such a Gossip" well? And over a topic as ridiculous as calf implants?

The only mildly interesting part of this whole episode was Haley, who had a photography exhibit she didn't want her family to attend. So of course they all showed up in force. And that plot wasn't even that strong, but the photos that they did for this episode were pretty great. So kudos to the set designers, at least.
