TWoP 10: Characters We'd Like to Regift (The 2010 Edition)

It's that time of year again, when one person's (or network's) trash can become another's treasure. But instead of taking our chances on a Yankee swap of some of TV's most interesting characters, we're just going ahead and repackaging these folks and shipping them off to new homes where they might actually be appreciated.

CW: Vampires and Models and Backstabbers Are in Fashion

CW: Vampires and Models and Backstabbers Are in Fashion

The final upfront of this nutty week was actually the fastest. Thanks to The CW for having an audience with a short attention span and realizing that long strings of numbers were meaningless. There was a DJ booth and they provided snacks (some nuts and an apple). Promising start.

Today's TWoP News: March 9, 2009

What better way to take your mind off of Watchmen and the entirely virtual nerd-fights it has inspired than by reading some excitingly nerdy TV news? There's a lot of exciting casting news today, mostly about aliens, vampires and superheroes, plus some news that might make your head explode, like in that movie Scanners. Basically, this entire news roundup is a sci-fi horror show. And it's all true, or at least rumored to be true. Watchmen, what have ye wrought?!

Forbidden Science Experiments: What if Our Fave Shows Were on Cinemax?

You know, we've been occasionally tuning in to the new late-night Cinemax series Forbidden Science -- for research purposes, of course -- and we gotta say, it's got a real Fringe vibe to it. On the show, 4Ever Innovations is a company engaged in a lot of cutting-edge science -- clones, memory implants, robotics -- all of which somehow guarantee that its users will be having sex with somebody during the course of an episode. (Think Massive Dynamic from Fringe, but with intentions as erotic as their name.) And it got us thinking... what if other popular shows were adapted for late-night Cinemax viewing? We've eroticized some of our favorites to see how they stack up.

TWoP 10 Shows That Should Be Cancelled Instead of Terminator

TWoP 10 Shows That Should Be Cancelled Instead of Terminator

It was a tough day when we found out that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is on the verge of getting axed because not enough people are watching it. Quality-wise, there are way worse shows on TV that deserve to get cut first. We're celebrating the timely demise of Do Not Disturb (although it's still baffling how it got on the air in the first place), but here are some others that should hit the road... and fast.

The Resurrection of Michigan J. Frog (and The WB)

The Resurrection of Michigan J. Frog (and The WB)

Given its blatant catering to the youth of America, I was always stunned by the WB's use of Michigan J. Frog as their mascot. The (then) 40-year-old cartoon character was most famous for belting out old-timey music like "Hello My Baby" and "The Michigan Rag," and was not at all as well-known as the rest of the Looney Tunes stable... and probably the only one not already licensed out to a T-shirt company, which is likely why Warner Bros. chose him. Of course, since the network's demise in 2005, no one has seen hide nor hair of him, so I'm curious if he'll make a comeback now that The WB has resurfaced as a website, The, where you can watch all of your favorite WB (and Warner-produced) shows. Somehow I doubt it.
