Simon Cowell: Master Chef?

Simon Cowell seems to think he knows a thing or two about the culinary arts: the X Factor judge is rumored to be planning a new cooking show described as "X Factor for chefs." Why stop at chefs, Simon? What about whale wars? Extreme couponing? A Toddlers and Tiaras pageant... okay, we would actually watch that one.

The final season premiere of Desperate Housewives saw the show's lowest ratings ever, with only 9.8 million viewers. Pan Am, however, soared over Housewives, with a total of 10.9 million. It was the highest lead-in for a show after Housewives since Grey's Anatomy in 2006, which is, frankly, a pretty lousy scale considering its biggest competition was Brothers and Sisters.

In October, Ben Stiller and Anna Faris are set to host Saturday Night Live. Stiller's episode will be on October 8 with musical guest Foster the People, while Faris will be hosting on October 15 with musical guest Drake. Fingers crossed that this year will be tolerable!

CBS bought Legacy, a legal drama from Jonathan E. Steinberg (Jericho), Dreamworks TV and James Frey's company Full Fathom Five. The series focuses on a one-term president who returns to his law firm. Didn't CBS learn anything from the demise of NBC's Outlaw, which was canceled less than a month after its premiere?

The Charlie Sheen apology train continues: Following his awkward presentation at the Emmys, Sheen hosted a viewing party for the season premiere of Two and a Half Men and said the episode was "really good." His remark was written in tiger blood on Chuck Lorre's door, but still, it was a nice sentiment.
