Dawg's out of the bag...

Randy Jackson is reportedly out as a judge over at American Idol, but will be back next season as a mentor. Man, this show is starting to sound really good, now that everyone is leaving. Hopefully in January Fox will just play one hour of dead air three hours a week... sounds a whole lot better than half the singing shows on TV, actually.

30 Rock has cast Bryan Cranston and Catherine O'Hara as guest stars for its final season, just in case we weren't already looking forward to it.

In Weeds news (a phrase I look forward to never using again very soon), a beloved familiar face is returning for a few episodes. I'd tell you who it is, but I'd hate to ruin the surprise for the two people still sitting through Season 8.

Newsroom's David Harbour will guest star on CBS' upcoming Elementary as a "brilliant surgeon" and I'll just quite while I'm ahead.

Good news for Arrested Development fans: Kitty (Judy Greer) is coming back! Given how much I missed those, this is quite exciting.

Robin Williams wants to return to TV, and is teaming up with David E. Kelley to get his fix. They're currently developing a sitcom called The Crazy Ones, which I'm sure won't be totally exhausting and obnoxious.

Funny ladies Casey Wilson (that's Penny from Happy Endings) and June Diane Raphael have penned a sitcom for ABC called The Housewives about three female friends in 1954. It has already gotten better ratings that GCB.

And finally, in news that I hope makes your Labor Day weekend just a little bit brighter, Chris Brown will not be at the 2012 MTV VMAs. Sadly, it's not because he was deported, but because he has "other plans" or something.
