Way to give Aaron Sorkin an even bigger ego, everybody.

Apparently, we weren't the only folks happy to see The Newsroom depart the airwaves for a season. The Aaron Sorkin HBO series scored series high ratings for its freshman year finale, to the tune of 2.8 million viewers for the night. (HBO's other summer series, True Blood, closed out its fifth season with 5 million viewers.) Admit it, y'all were just tuning in to hate-watch it, right?

Even though every single attempt to revive the 1980 teen classic Fame has failed (the original TV series, the reality series, the feature film remake), American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe has announced plans to reboot the franchise as a new made-for-TV movie and possible series. As usual, it would focus on the attempts of a group of precocious performing arts students to "live forever" and make everyone "remember my name." We expect to forget this new Fame before it even begins.

No doubt certain that Bunheads would be put out of its misery after Season 1 wrapped, Bailey Buntain -- who plays Ginny on Amy Sherman-Palladino's painfully disappointing dancing series -- went ahead and booked another gig as a guest star on ABC's The Middle, playing a freshman who becomes a mentee to Eden Share's Sue. Any hope of remaining around The Middle long term, however, has been diminished by ABC Family's inexplicable decision to renew the show for another season. Apparently, Bunheads is a lot like The Godfather; every time anyone tries to get out, they keep getting pulled back in.

For anyone out there who assumed it was just a hardball negotiating tactic, Sharon Osbourne swears that she's really and truly through with America's Got Talent. The professional reality show celebrity confirmed her split with the series to David Letterman on The Late Show last night, also taking a moment to describe his former network, NBC, as "the Titanic." Does this mean James Cameron is getting his own show on the network next season?

When Katie Couric's heavily hyped syndicated talk show Katie kicks off on September 10, the guest list will include such high-profile names as Jessica Simpson, Sheryl Crowe and fan-fiction scribe turned best-selling author E L "50 Shades of Grey" James. To try and top that, Jeff Probst is expected to announce that his new syndicated talk show will open with an exclusive interview with... Jeff Probst.

When a show enters its eight season, it's always worth shaking things up a little. So the Fox serial Bones has decided to... um, change it's title sequence. Really? That's really the only thing they felt needed improvement? Anyway, you can see the new version for yourself right now. Not bad, but we kinda wish Emily Deschanel's singing sister Zooey had recorded her own track... you know, something catchy and quirky like, "Who's that forensic investigator? It's Bones!"
