BBC is adapting JK Rowling's new book, The Casual Vacancy, into a television series. Of course, anything she does for the rest of her life will simply be a letdown.

Alec Baldwin has signed a two-year deal with Universal Television to develop more TV shows. Let's see how many times he can threaten to back out of this one.

Showtime has ordered a documentary series about climate change to be executive produced by James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Which of them gets to tell the planet, "I'll be back"?

ABC is developing a reality show based on General Hospital that will follow real doctors and nurses in an actual hospital. So it's actually a reality show based on ER, Grey's Anatomy,and all of the other medical shows out there.

Molly Ringwald is developing a drama for Lifetime that will focus on a woman returning to her hometown with her children and confronting past problems. At this point anything is better than Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Spike TV has renewed both Ink Master and Tattoo Nightmares, because who doesn't love watching random strangers get tattoos, good and bad?

Howard Stern has announced that he will return to America's Got Talent for the show's eighth season, though the other judges have yet to announce their plans. Because if anyone knows talent, it's Howard Stern.

Newt Gingrich has filmed a guest appearance on Parks & Recreation, according to a tweet from Rob Lowe. Apparently Gingrich isn't aware of the connections between the show and Saturday Night Live.

In casting news, the Internet's favorite celebrity George Takei will appear on Hawaii Five-0. Joel Johnstone will recur on the upcoming second season of The Newsroom, while Piper Perabo will appear in three episodes of Go On.
